Your Comfort is our concern
We realize that many patients are apprehensive about dental treatment. At Gentle Care Dentistry we take the time to listen to your concerns and fears and then discuss the variety of methods for making your visit comfortable.
If you are anxious about your dental visits, have avoided dental appointments for years or have sleepless nights thinking about your appointments, then one pill sedation may be for you.
A small pill taken prior to your appointment will provide a stress and anxiety-free appointment. In most situations, a great amount of dentistry can be performed in just one appointment.
DOCS
Nitrous Oxide is an analgesia that provides for a relaxing visit without deep sedation. It is easily adjustable throughout the appointment and there are no lingering after effects once it is removed.
AIR ABRASION is a technique that uses a fine powder to prepare the tooth instead of the drill. For patients who feel they prefer to be numbed, a local anesthetic can be used. However, most patients find that with air abrasion their cavities can be treated without numbing. It is used for smaller areas of decay and cannot be used to remove existing silver fillings or for crown preparations.
Today, people realize how important a beautiful smile can be. It not only makes you look years younger, but will make you feel years younger. Whether in a social or business environment, cosmetic dentistry can give a patient more confidence, improve their self-esteem and can change the quality of a their life.
There have been tremendous advances in cosmetic dentistry. Through the use of porcelain restorations and/or bleaching and bonding, many cosmetic concerns you may have with your smile can be successfully corrected.
Teeth that have spaces, are misaligned or are poorly shaped can be corrected with porcelain veneers. Teeth that are darkened from age or stained from medications. smoking, or even coffee and tea can be corrected by veneers, whitening or a combination of the two procedures.

Implant De ntistry Implant Dentistry
Implants replace the roots of missing teeth. Crowns or dentures can then be attached to the implants. Using dental implants to replace missing teeth often avoids the need to crown the healthy, adjacent teeth.
It is not uncommon for dentures to become loose and sore. Implant supported dentures are much more stable, comfortable and functional than conventional dentures. The patient is able to chew foods which they could not chew with conventional dentures. Implant placement also prevents the underlying bone from deteriorating, which is a common problem with patients wearing dentures. The end result of implant supported dentures is a much happier patient with more self-confidence.
New Paragraph
Porcelain Veneers are very thin porcelain coverings which are bonded mainly onto the front portion of the teeth. Porcelain veneers are successfully used in cosmetic dentistry to change the shape of teeth, close spaces and to lighten the color of teeth.
New Paragraph
Porcelain Crowns are metal-free, and are used for cosmetic changes of the teeth, such as changing their shape, color and alignment, as well as to restore weakened or broken teeth.
New Paragraph
Porcelain Onlays are used to replace large, old and defective silver fillings. They are bonded onto back teeth. They are used when a routine filling would not be strong enough and a full crown would remove more tooth structure than necessary.

Bonding is used to repair chipped, fractured or discolored teeth, to close small spaces and to modify the shape of teeth.

Crowns and Bridges are fixed (non-removable) restorations. A bridge used to replace teeth that have been extracted. It provides an increase in chewing area, fills in the vacant space and prevents the migration or drifting of the adjacent teeth into that vacant space. This drifting can affect a patient's bite, cause spreading of the teeth, periodontal disease or TMJ symptoms.
If there are no missing teeth, a single crown, is used to restore a tooth that has become weakened from decay, weakened by a previously placed large filling, or has fractured.
Removable Prosthetics are also used to replace missing teeth. They are used when fixed bridges or implant supported crowns or bridges cannot be used as the primary treatment.
Complete Dentures are used when all the teeth are missing in either the upper jaw, lower jaw or both. If possible, complete dentures can be supported by dental implants, which would give the patient much more security, confidence and increase their ability to chew foods. Also, wherever implants are placed, the bony ridge does not resorb. This natural resorption causes looseness of dentures, changes facial features and requires frequent denture relines.
With implant supported dentures, the dentures can still be removed by the patient, but do not become loose like conventional dentures can. Another alternative for the patient is to have their dentures secured to the implants so they are not removable.
Partial Dentures are used when some teeth are missing and some natural teeth are strong enough to remain in the mouth. The natural teeth are used to support and hold the removable partial denture in place. Again, the primary treatment, if possible, would be for implants to replace the missing teeth or even fixed bridges.

Patient Education
Intraoral Camera - This is like a camcorder for the mouth. It can show you on a monitor or television screen exactly what the dentist sees. Have you ever been told a filling is wearing away or that there are cracks in your teeth? Through the use of intraoral cameras, the dentist can show you these hard to see areas of your mouth. These pictures can also be useful for insurance companies on determining benefits for claims.
Educational DVD's Through interactive educational DVD's a variety of procedures and techniques can be viewed. This is an easy format for patients to view so they can get a better understanding of treatment and procedures.
